Hoiku-en Owarimashita.
Hello everyone. Kenzo's Dad here with an update for you.
During the Month of May and June, Kenzo was going to Day Care (Hoiku-en) almost everyday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. But this Day Care also included educational components, including Arts & Crafts and nature walks. They also fed him a healthy meal each day.
When Hiroko had to be in the hospital for almost 1 month, I would drop Kenzo off in the morning and Michiko-san would pick him up. It was hard at first to drop him off, but he adapted quickly and always had fun there. Kenzo made lots of new friends and he could name them all including his favorite teacher, Miyata-Sensei. Kenzo learned so much and even took a daily nap ... whereas he had never fallen asleep alone (without Mom or Dad) before.
On Kenzo's last day of school, they had a "Sayanora Party" for him and Miyata-Sensei (it was also her last day). All of the other kids made him a paper flower and one by one they gave them to us until we had a beautiful bouquet.
Overall, the experience was very good for him. He learned a lot and it allowed Hiroko to make it through the pregnancy, delivery and recovery from childbirth. He used to cry to be dropped off, now he misses his friends.
We are so proud of you Kenzo.
Love,
-- Daddy
